Reactive Recovery Class - Comox Valley NEW

Working through your dogs reactivity can be an isolating, alienating, shame filled experience. But it does not have to be. My hope is to connect fellow reactive pet guardians and to create a community of like minded people that can learn alongside one another, while helping their dogs recover from trauma, fear or frustration. These classes will prepare you to facilitate parallel walks with friends safely as well as help you navigate conflict when on walks in your community.

Where: Initial recorded online session + 4 in person sessions at Island Tides  Vet Hospital (outdoor)
When: 7:15PM Thursdays
Requirements: All vaccines up to date/titers, bite history dogs must be on a muzzle, must use strictly positive reinforcement methods - no prongs, shock collars or “balanced” training techniques are supported in this learning environment. Dogs must be on Haiti’s or harnesses, no slip leads or flat collars.
Suitable For: dogs over 9+ months, reactive on leash towards other dogs or people, people looking for a new approach to training their reactive dog
*You may AUDIT without your dog (6 spots), please reach out via EMAIL if curious, this will be $250 for the 5 sessions.

Our goal: To give you the skills and CONFIDENCE to facilitate your own parallel walks outside of class with like minded individuals. Our hope is to empower you to continue training your reactive dog on your own time, without continued investment into training with a professional. The coaching in this class is meant to set you free, to continue exposure training on your own when you are ready to.

We explore: Engage-disengage game passing one another, threshold awareness, body language break down, conflict avoidance, conflict resolution, nervous system regulation, handler confidence, body awareness, somatics for dogs & people.
